First off, Starborn is longlisted for a Gemmell Award, that most awesome of things, and I couldn’t be more chuffed. It’s up for the Morningstar (best fantasy début) against some damn fine competition. The Gemmell is a fan award; it’s about showing the love for books that took you places, that you found yourself reading despite having a thousand things to do. The other categories are Legend (best fantasy novel) and Ravenheart (best cover art). Whatever you choose, please do vote and support some brilliant books. It’s free and takes just two seconds.
Voting on the longlist is open for the next 6 weeks. You can find the form here. (If you vote for me, I would of course shower you eternally in the baked goods of your choice).
Secondly, my co-hosts-in-arms Megan Leigh and Charlotte Bond have been busy launching our podcast, Breaking the Glass Slipper, which focuses on women in genre. As Megan says –

Our first two episodes had a great reception – thank you to all those who retweeted and shared. Big thanks to our first interviewee Jen Williams, who spoke to us about her recently completed Copper Cat Trilogy. If you missed that episode, you can find it here. Episode 3 airs this Thursday (19th May) and discusses writing the opposite gender.
Breaking the Glass Slipper publishes bi-monthly (every other Thursday) and is available on Soundcloud, iTunes, Stitcher and TuneIn. If you’re between books and unsure what to read next, here we are on Pornokitsch with some recommendations.
Thirdly (and aptly) Book 3! I am beavering away on this and hope to have the draft (and trilogy!) done and dusted by December. Expect exciting things next year.
In the meantime, I hope to see you all at Nine Worlds and Fantasycon, where I will be masquerading as Daenerys. After last night’s episode of GoT, I could not be more pleased with my choice of cosplay. On that note, I leave you with…
